History and values
At Bates White, personal and professional integrity are paramount. When Charles Bates, Hal White, and three other economists founded the firm in 1999, they wanted a firm that would invest in and empower individuals, respect and trust their judgment, value collegiality and diverse contributions, and share risks and rewards. The Guiding Principles they set in place continue to drive the firm’s strategy, approach, and culture.

Bates White is deeply committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive culture. We recognize that each individual contributes unique ideas, perspectives, and interests that enable us to maintain a dynamic environment, encourage creativity, and deliver high-quality results for our clients.
Through everyday interactions—with the support of our formal diversity and inclusion programs and networks—we create a culture of belonging. Learn more about DEI&B at Bates White and our employee networks.
